East Carolina University, Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium

Danley Sound Labs · Greenville, North Carolina, USA

East Carolina University began in 1907 as a teachers' training school in Greenville, North Carolina, and has grown into one of the largest public research universities in the University of North Carolina system. When it came time to upgrade the sound at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, the university wanted complete, clear coverage of the field and stands without a sprawling loudspeaker deployment.

The new system marks the first installation of Danley's J8-94 loudspeakers in the United States, working alongside J7-95, SH46 and SH62 full-range boxes and BC415 subwoofers. Danley's pattern control and long throw allow the whole field to be covered from the scoreboard position, keeping energy on the crowd rather than spilling across the venue.

Integrator Precision Audio highlighted how much coverage the design achieves with so little equipment. Scott Carneval of Precision Audio noted that the team can "cover the entire field from the scoreboard". The result is the clarity, low-end extension and impact a modern game-day experience demands.
