Dali EDITION Hotel

K-Array · Dali, China

Set beneath Cangshan Mountain and looking out over Erhai Lake, the Dali EDITION is the brand's first property in Western China and its third in Greater China. CCD shaped the low-rise resort around a courtyard idea, drawing on local Bai materials such as weathered timber, bluestone and cobblestone. Alongside 151 rooms, suites and pool villas, it offers four dining venues, a ballroom, a spa and outdoor lawns for weddings and events. The project came through an audio consultant, and the challenge was to hide a full professional system inside interiors built around bare natural surfaces, while serving zones with very different acoustic needs.

In the lobby, dining rooms and pool areas, Tornado-KT2 point sources and KT2C ceiling speakers spread background music evenly across the open spaces with very little visual presence. The divisible ballroom, used for conferences, weddings and live music, relies on Kayman-KY102 line arrays supported by Thunder-KS2P I subwoofers recessed into the walls and reaching down to 35Hz. On the terrace lounge and outdoor bar, weatherproof KGEAR GF82 I line arrays and KGEAR GU210 subwoofers shift from gentle daytime ambience to livelier evening events, positioned along the terrace edge so views of the mountain and lake stay clear. A matrix and zoning processor gives each area its own volume and playlist control, and the ballroom has a dedicated mixing console for live events.

The result is a system that works with the architecture, finishes and hotel operations rather than competing with them. Shanghai JETA, K-array's official distributor in China, supported the project from product selection through to on-site tuning, while Jason Zhao of K-ARRAY.CN LTD partnered with the consultant to pair each zone with the right models, mounts and coverage. K-array's team also joined early design reviews with the fit-out and low-voltage contractors, then returned to recheck placement and tune every zone. As Zhao put it, "This project demonstrated K-array's strength extends far beyond compact, minimalistic hardware."
